Lol I'm an arachnophobe and I freak out to an extreme when I see shit like this.

It's a fantastic picture and it's great to get such an up close glimpse of nature that would be hard to see with the naked eye (assuming they're not really that huge...right??). Congrats on the well deserved DD!!

i actually love spiders but even I'm a little creeped out by the sight of a whole sling of little ones huddled up on their mother... This is just a harmless wolf spider though. ;3

We should all give spiders more love. They're on our side! They kill lots of way worse stuff.

One of the wolf spiders. They are active hunters, typically carry their young like this, and have bizarrely good night vision. There's actually a reflective layer behind the retinas of those large forward facing eyes. Their retinas register the light both as it hits the retina from in front, and as it reflects back through from behind. :)

Amazing shot, but...
how much fire does it take to kill that particular breed of spider?

:iconfluffy-sama:

This particular breed is actually immune to fire.

Wolf spider! I've seen one of these carrying its young like this before. Nice photo, it's very interesting to see all that detail. Love the shallow depth of field too, it makes the subject stand out even more!
